Inching my way out of Corvallis

I Got back from the Owyhee and it was time to cram a bit. I needed to write 2 publications in 2 weeks – it ended up taking 3, but all got finished and I was off and free from school. In the midst of it all another Kiwi (Jono) joined the group and we were drowning in “Eh’s” and “I Reckon’s”. Spent a final weekend up at the Little White showing Shaun and Richard down for their virgin runs – they dominated in true team extreme style. Next weekend was the Canyon Creek downriver “Extreme” race. The Corvallis Creeking Contingent showed up in force. Opting out of the professional racing category, we took 5th, 8th, 9th, and 12th out of 30 or 40 boaters in the “advanced” league. Good on ya guys, way to represent. Tossed in the midst of it all was the “bring your own toppings” pizza party where Jacqui took home the pot of gold with her cream cheez and salmon pizza – leave it to the kiwi’s to think of something random that turns out delicious. Enjoy the pics.

Jacqui taking home the grand prize and Jeff doing his best to look awesome!

Ahh the little white, such fond memories

it was a bit of a party on the river this day

S-Turn - good fun, just make the last move or else...

Someone will have to live bait themselves after your boat which will end up in the cave. And yes, there is someone on the end of those ropes...They lowered him in and gave him a 10 count before tugging him out, and the boat he was going after had been there for more than a week with a very pricey camera sitting in a drybag inside it...they had it out in 30 minutes.

Some days everything goes right, somedays they always go wrong...Nick rapping his way behind the curtain to retrieve Ricks boat and what was left of his paddle. Spirit often reminds you of its name.

Easy days at the Canyon Creek Race

Casey charging hard for the finish line, forearms burning im sure.

Rafts dont boof so well, but they sure do fit in cracks nicely

The next week was a blur of activity. Shaun and Jacqui had bought a van and decked it out to live from over the next year. Chris Korbulic and I spent a few days rigging out my truck for the 2 of us to live out of while in California this summer. The plan had me, shaun, Jaqs, and Kate (an additional kiwi member of team extreme set to arrive mid april) leaving Corvallis and road tripping for 2 weeks through Yosemite and the Grand Canyon area, then I would get dropped off somewhere in California to meet up with Chris K who would be driving my truck down. Kate would be shipping off to NYC and shaun and Jaqs would be off on their own roadie for the rest of the summer. First things first though: Going away party. The theme “Chris is finally leaving, but will most likely be coming back soon” and as it turned out I left and was back in town the following day – this didn’t take anything away from the party however. Sometime mid evening the party shirts busted out, we got a bon fire going and then the fire department came after a neighbor called to complain about the fire. CFD saw no problems with our gathering or the fire and even congratulated us on our nicely laid out fire pit, good party, live music and general good times – thanks CFD. The girls even tried to keep them around by offering some refreshments and a bit eye candy for them to look at – thanks for your efforts girls of the blue tarp barn!

Chris K found his party shirt early and set the scene

He then continued to set the scene...

And continued, until finally...

Others couldn't resist but to join in as well

Looking good

The dinky fire that attracted the fire department
